Under the direction of the Manufacturing Unit EMRA (Engineering, Maintenance, Reliability Automation) Leader, the Mechanical Engineer will plan, lead, organize and control all activities of the mechanical engineering function which includes design, selection, installation, maintenance, and reliability, of equipment and processes to assure the efficiency and effectiveness of operations with the manufacturing unit. Responsibilities Leverage the Novelis Systems and Safety Principles to create a zero-injury culture. Follow all plant EHS policies, standards and procedures. Utilize the principle of continuous quality and reliability improvement on a routine basis. Identify areas of potential improvement in the processes, equipment, and facilities to achieve increased profitability through reduced costs, increased throughput, improved quality, increased equipment uptime and market penetration. Develop conceptual and functional requirements for short- and long-term process and equipment development (facility planning) consistent with the business plan. Compare alternatives and recommend cost effective solutions for productivity, cost, quality, reliability, safety and environment improvements. Responsible for project engineering and management of capital and maintenance projects with. Analyze projected financial impact of proposed process, equipment and facilities modifications. Prepare and presents robust capital expenditure requests, including sound financial analysis/justification, for management approval. Develop, coordinate and manage external resources including contractors, vendors and engineering. Supports and has ability to leads root cause analyses using tools such as 5-Why, Cause Maps, etc. Provide functional and technical support/direction to plant maintenance and operating salary and hourly employees. Participate as a member and/or leader in process development, continuous improvement and other problem-solving work teams. Functionally direct, lead and supervise maintenance technicians as necessary - to resolve and prevent maintenance and engineering problems and to develop training programs on processes and equipment for the maintenance staffs. Develop technical and process skills of the hourly maintenance crews. Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers and other technical resources outside of the Site and Company. Be available as needed to support operations at a 24/7 facility. Responsibilities & Qualifications Required
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent . Advanced degree preferred 5
years of work experience in field of mechanical engineering. Effective organizational skills and ability to work with various levels of the organization. Excellent leadership skills A strong understanding of maintenance procedures and principles of equipment reliability Excellent interpersonal and both written and oral communication skills with the ability to interact with contractors, customers, employees, and government regulatory agencies at all levels. Proficient in Computer Software - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Project, AutoCad Ability to write specifications and facilitate bids from contractors and suppliers. Fundamental knowledge of AutoCad, with the ability to make minor changes to drawings. Ability to troubleshoot and perform root-cause-analysis on equipment and process issues, specifically in the mechanical area. Proficient in the fundamentals of reliability such that the position can help establish appropriate PM's and PdM's for process equipment.
Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
Mechanical Engineering, Plant & Facilities ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
